Reason Magazine: Paul Detrick & Zach Weissmueller: 'Democrat Debt Solutions: Tax the Rich, Spend More Money'

Source:Reason Magazine- at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

"As the national debt finally passes the $16 trillion mark, are Democrats serious about addressing deficit spending?

Several Democratic delegates and supporters that Reason TV spoke with at the 2012 Democratic National Convention said that Democrats care deeply about the debt, but when it came to offering solutions, they said that serious reductions in government spending would actually be counterproductice. Instead, many suggested increasing public works spending to stimulate job growth, despite the fact that President Obama's first stimulus still hasn't moved the economy above 8 percent unemployment.

They also defended Obama's proposal to raise taxes on anyone earning more than $200,000 a year, even though this won't even come close to closing the annual budget deficit."

With all due respect to Reason Magazine: the Democratic Party, at least post-Bill Clinton is not the political party of fiscal responsibility and a party that spends much time (if any) concerning themselves with the national debt and budget deficit. At least not the left-wing Democratic Party that's always advocating for higher taxes and more government spending, while at the same time arguing that those new government services and investments would be free.

I think Reason Magazine knew going in that the Democratic Party of 2012, is not the party of fiscal responsibility and perhaps sought out to interview as many left-wing Democrats who would do anything to be able to vote for one of the members of the left-wing of the Democratic Party, like a Bernie Sanders or Dennis Kucinich. As opposed to voting for someone that even Democrats now view as somewhat boring and just not the awesome Socialist, political rockstar,  that they thought they were getting 4 years ago, in Barack Obama.
