A&E Biography: Lynda Carter

Source:A&E Biography- Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.
Source:The Daily Review

I don't think there's a better women and actress who could have played Wonder Woman. That show is literally about a goddess who comes to America from Paradise Island and plays superhero. At first you might thinks she's way too damn cute to kick ass. But I think that made her even more perfect for that role, because it gave her a great cover. With bad guys lets say, who don't believe she can handle them even though she saved the day (so to speak) all the time. Here's a women who is a former Miss America. That is how physically attractive she is as a tall strong athletic women, who is also hot and really adorable. Even in her nerdy glasses as U.S. Army Lieutenant Diana Prince, who is an intelligence officer. You could still tell she was a goddess who perhaps just needed to wear eye contacts.

Wonder Woman, was an entertaining watchable show. But so was Dukes of Hazzard, but the difference being the The Dukes was a great show even without Catherine Bach. But Catherine just made that show even better. Lynda Carter, just didn't make Wonder Woman, but she made that show as well. She brought that character to real-life and brought her to millions of Americans homes. People watched Wonder Woman to watch Wonder Woman, who was Lynda Carter. And it had other good people on it like Lyle Waggoner, but women watched that show, because they wanted to see a strong gorgeous women who kicked ass. And perhaps the same thing with guys, but they were simply interested in her. I see Wonder Woman as a show where a great looking women who is also entertaining can bring people into it. Even if it doesn't have much to offer outside of the lead.

And I think Lynda Carter knew all of this and perhaps got tired and bored with Wonder Woman and was ready to move on and not disappointed when CBS cut Wonder Woman in 1979. Because that show really was her, without much else other than her. With weak plots and cheesy writing that let Americans who were born in the 1960s and 1970s what it was like to live in the 1940s and 50s as far as how Americans talked to each other. With the original show taking place during World War II like the cartoon. But Wonder Woman made Lynda a star and gave her other opportunities and chances to meet other people and expand her career. So in this sense Wonder Woman even though it was a mediocre show, it gave her other opportunities and chances to do good credible things. Where she wasn't purely seen as a goddess.

Lifetime: Lynda Carter- 2000 Intimate Portrait

Source:Lifetime Network- The Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.
Source:The Daily Review

"A biography on Lynda Carter. Narrated by Mary Hart."

From Lifetime Network

I'm sure Lynda Carter is more than Wonder Woman and has more credits to her life than that. I think the problem that she and its not a weakness on her part, but similar to Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard, she played Wonder Woman so well and doesn't have another role that comes close to the popularity of Wonder Woman, that she's not that well-known for anything else. Except for perhaps her most die hard fans. Which is a shame, because she might be the best looking and sexiest women on TV from the 1970s. A gloomy decade in a lot of ways, but her and that show gave millions of Americans a lot to be happy about and look forward to for about five years. In the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Lynda Carter, is one of the top Hollywood Goddess's of all-time. I'm not sure a better looking women has ever been on TV, to be frank about this. A gorgeous and yet baby-faced adorable brunette, 5'9, 130 pounds or so, great body. Built like a great tennis player. You can see why the creators of Wonder Woman wanted her so much and wanted her in that outfit so much. She truly looked like a goddess  and played one on TV as well. I don't know of another women at least from that era, who cold have played that role better, or as well. When you're talking about her physical presence and the fact that she's a hell of an actress as well. She made a guest appearance on the hit police detective show Starsky and Hutch in like 1975 or 76 , before Wonder Woman and you could see then that she was going to be a star.

I'm surprised that Wonder Woman didn't lead to other great roles for her on TV and in the movies. I could easily have seen her on a hit cop show in the 1980s where she plays a detective or detective sergeant, kicking ass and saving the day. (So to speak) I think she would have been great in roles like that on TV, or doing action/comedy movies like that. And perhaps even having another hit show. Similar to Angie Dickinson with Police Woman in the mid and late 1970s. But she has made a very good career for herself doing other movies, as well as putting together a pretty successful singing career. But even being typecast as this Wonder Goddess from Paradise Island, (of all places) I believe even with that she should have had other opportunities like that in the 1980s and 1990s. And had more great credits on her resume.

Wonder Mania: Wonder Woman Cat Fight- Lynda Carter vs. Stella Stevens

“Wonder Woman Cat Fight 3D”

From Wonder Mania

A cat fight between goddess’, which is how it should be. I mean, who wants to see a cat fight between a couple of two-hundred pound dykish looking women. I guess dykes, but who else?

But what you have in this scene is two goddess’. Lynda Carter, perhaps the best looking woman on TV in the entire 1970s, if not Hollywood all together. Versus Stella Stevens, who made most of her mark in Hollywood in movies in the 1960s and 70s. Two gorgeous sexy women and yet they are both baby-faced adorable as well.

I tend to call Wonder Woman, played by Lynda Carter Wonder Baby. Because as hot and sexy as she was and still is, at least to a certain extent, she was just as cute as well. Stella Stevens reminds me a lot of Kim Novak physically, but not as shy and a lot funnier. And these two women are also excellent actress’s, which made for a very good scene.

Golden Cyber: Wonder Woman- Captured by The Skrill

Source:Golden Cyber- Wonder Woman Lynda Carter-

“Clips from Mind Stealers from Outer Space”

Wonder Woman being captured by a monster. I guess even super heroes have their weakness’ and can meet their match. To believe in Wonder Woman, well you have to believe in Wonder Woman. Which is a big enough challenge in itself. And then you have to believe that the U.S. Army, or at least some Army officers are dumb enough to believe that Diana Prince and Wonder Woman are two different women. Why, because even though they have the same body, face and voice, one where’s glasses and an Army uniform and the other doesn’t. So of course they can’t be the same woman.

Sort of like cops not thinking that is the car they’re looking for, because the license plates are different. Even though the car is the same make, model, year, color, same dent in the front door. And it doesn’t occur to the Detective that the suspect simply changed the license plate of the getaway car. Well, Wonder Woman wasn’t an entertaining show because of its realism. But because it had a goddess like Lynda Carter and some real good action scenes.

Golden Cyber: 'Wonder Woman Defeated by a Nazi Wonder Woman'

Source:Golden Cyber- Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.
Source:Real Life Journal

“Wonder Woman Defeated by a Nazi Wonder Woman. Another variation with a favorite ending.”

From Golden Cyber

Wonder Woman, defeated by a German Nazi! Thats embarrassing! I know this Nazi is also a Wonder Woman, but the only real Wonder Woman is an American, or at least she landed in America. After emigrating, I guess from Paradise Island. I’m really stretching on my Wonder Woman knowledge, but I’m no expert on Wonder Woman and for good reason. Cheesy show, that without a goddess named Lynda Carter as the star of the show, absolutely no reason to watch it. Unless you like to watch TV to make fun of it. Make fun of the cheesy writing and facial expressions and everything else. How unrealistic the show is.

But after seeing Wonder Woman lose to a Nazi, now I have even less respect for this show. But she’s Wonder Woman! The female version of Superman, except without the ability to fly with a cape. So I’m sure she came back later and saved the day.

Golden Cyber: Wonder Woman- Defeated by The Pied Piper

“Another personal favorite episode of mine. Had a number of missed opportunities typical of the CBS seasons which could have made it much better than it actually was…

From Brdly

“Clips from the Pied Piper episode. Many feel Lynda Carter looked particularly good in this episode. Note the window decal in the back at the beginning, “Restaurant and Cleaners”. Reminds me of a commercial.”

Source:Golden Cyber- being Wonder Woman can be a headache.
From Golden Cyber

It’s kind of hard for me to imagine someone as strong as Wonder Baby, I mean Wonder Woman could be defeated by, well, disco music. You would think someone strong enough to knock down brick walls and jump up on tall buildings and beat up 300 pound men, would be strong enough to take on disco music. Without falling asleep. Wait, I guess disco music was really that bad. And perhaps boring enough to literally knock people out. Even a wonder goddess’ like Wonder Woman.

Perhaps disco was to Wonder Woman what kryptonite was to Superman. Yeah, maybe the Pied Piper was the only one in the history of the Wonder Woman TV series to discover Women Woman’s weakness. Which is really bad music that puts her to sleep. She might be strong enough to tackle bears and stop speeding cars with her bare hands from the outside, but disco music will bring her down to size.

Satan Tights: Allan Arbus- ‘As Bleaker in Wonder Woman- The Girl From Ilandia’

SourceSatan Tights- Allan Arbus guest-starring on Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter. Perhaps you can tell which one is which for yourself, not that I would be impressed by that.

Source:Real Life Journal

“Allan Arbus as the villain, “Bleaker” in the New Adventures of Wonder Woman, “The Girl from Ilandia,” April 7, 1978. Bleaker was one of the few villains to evade Wonder Woman. Unfortunately, he never reappeared to challenge her again.. Allan’s name was sometimes misspelled with only one L, as it appears in this episode. Arbus died April 19, 2013. He was 95.

Tina returns in the six issue crossover event, “Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman” – written by Andy Mangels and illustrated by Judit Tondora. Trade Paperback available on Amazon."

Allan Arbus, who of course played Dr. Sidney Friedman on MASH, showing his versatility here. By not just doing comedy, but doing action/comedy. Playing a smartass bad guy. Who kidnaps Wonder Girl, or whoever the girl was. And of course the Wonder Goddess, or Wonder Baby, which is what I call Wonder Woman, because she was so hot, sexy and adorable, comes in and saves the day.

This episode was from 1978. So I’m probably two years old at this point, so no I don’t remember this episode. But I saw the repeat of this show last summer on Me-TV. The writing on this show always seemed twenty-years behind. And it seemed stuck in the, gee that’s swell universe of people who wouldn’t use strong language to save their lives. And the writing looked like it was from a show from the late 1950s instead of the late 1970s. But this scene on this show was pretty good.

The Runaways Rock Me: Lynda Carter- Just One Look

Source:The Runaways- Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.

Source:Real Life Journal

“Just One Look – Lynda Carter. From The 1978 lp ‘Portrait’.”

Just one look and you see a gorgeous sexy baby a wonder woman. Lynda Carter, is truly special which is why she’s truly a Hollywood Goddess. Gorgeous, baby-faced adorable, tall with a great body. Great voice, which is why she can sing.

And is someone whose almost completely responsible by herself for making Wonder Woman the hit show that it was by herself. Because the show Wonder Woman, didn’t exactly have a lot of great material to work with. Simply not believable, it starts out during World War II in the 1940s and then moves to present day when the show was on in the late 1970s.

The writing was fairly cheesy to the point you might of thought it was 1945 when you watched it. Even when the show actually took place in present time back then. Would have been 1977, 78, 79, etc. But Lynda Carter kept people watching it, because she was Wonder Woman.
