Pre-internet and social media network like YouTube, if politicians, especially national politicians, and especially underdog national politicians, if they wanted to get real airtime and get their views out, they had to buy a lot of TV time. Or they could hook up with movie producers who perhaps support their campaigns and put films together that would air in syndication or in the theaters, that would show the voters what they believe in and what their message is.
Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater was shown in New Hampshire, campaigning for the 1964 Republican presidential nomination. Clips from speeches about foreign policy, the United Nations, Social Security, and economics were included. Also shown were video clips of New Hampshire residents being interviewed.
